When Will Codex or Claude Allowance Reset? Find Your Own Reset Time First

Your account’s usage interface is the most reliable starting point. Public reset records can provide context, but they cannot replace your personal remaining allowance or reset time.

1. Codex: start with the usage dashboard or /status

OpenAI’s Codex pricing documentation identifies the usage dashboard as the place to view current usage limits. In an active CLI session, you can use /status to view remaining allowance.

Record what the interface actually shows. If it only shows what remains and gives no specific reset date, this site cannot derive an exact personal time from public announcements.

2. Claude: open Settings > Usage

Claude’s official help says that Settings > Usage can show progress for the current session and weekly limits. The current session shows usage and remaining time, while weekly limits show reset times for the relevant usage pools.

Pay attention to which limit row you are viewing. One reset window becoming available does not necessarily mean that other exhausted windows have also reset. If the product interface or plan rules change, follow what is currently displayed.

3. Confirm these four details before setting a timer

  1. Product and account: make sure you are not viewing another workspace or plan.
  2. Limit type: for example, a session, weekly limit, or a specific model usage pool.
  3. Date and time: do not copy only “3 PM” and omit the date.
  4. Time zone: your device’s local time and the UTC time in an announcement may differ.

4. Put the time in your own calendar

On the personal timer page, choose “Exact time” and enter the time in your device’s local time zone; you can also enter the remaining duration shown by the interface. Changing the display time zone in the list does not change the timer’s end time.

When the timer reaches zero, return to the original tool to confirm. This timer only represents the target time you entered; it does not read your allowance or promise that the provider will reset it at that exact second.
